Custom theme structure

functions.php loads small modules for theme setup, post types, assets, forms and search engine responses. PHP page templates control the layout.

Services and editable content

A public service post type stores offerings. Individual service pages can read optional ACF taglines, bullet points, duration and pricing notes.

Quote and contact forms

Forms submit to admin-post.php. A shared handler checks a nonce and honeypot, sanitizes fields, calls wp_mail and redirects with a status flag.

Responsive navigation and assets

The mobile menu closes on Escape, outside clicks and desktop resize. The theme enqueues minified CSS and JS files with filemtime versioning.

Sitemap and robots rules

Small PHP handlers serve sitemap.xml and robots.txt. Published pages and service posts are included in the sitemap.

Modular PHP theme

The theme bootstrap loads inc/custom-post-types.php, inc/enqueue.php, inc/form-handler.php and other focused modules. It uses WordPress template hierarchy for service pages.

ACF and service templates

The front page and single-service template check optional get_field values before rendering content. Editors manage those values in WordPress.

Form submission flow

Forms use both logged-in and guest admin-post actions. The shared processor verifies the nonce, checks a honeypot, sanitizes input, calls wp_mail and redirects to the referring page.

Small asset surface

Only one theme CSS and one JavaScript bundle are enqueued, with file modification times used as asset versions. This is an implementation choice, not a measured Lighthouse score.

Keep service content editable

Problem: Different services need individual copy without duplicating the whole page template.

Solution: The Services post type and optional ACF fields supply content to the reusable single-service template.

Process several form layouts

Problem: Quote and contact pages collect different fields but still need a consistent submission path.

Solution: The pages submit to the same admin-post.php handler, which checks nonce and honeypot values and sanitizes the submitted fields.

Avoid a large frontend dependency stack

Problem: A custom theme can accumulate unused scripts and styles.

Solution: The theme loads its own minified CSS and JavaScript without requiring jQuery, and versions both files using filemtime.
